Stone, Silence, and Structure

Installed in the VIP section of Nobu Malibu, this concrete bas-relief explores the tension between control and impermanence. Composed of modular blocks that seem to emerge and recede, the piece evokes both architecture and erosion, something built, yet constantly shifting.

Set within a surrounding of wood, stone, and living plants, the work enters into dialogue with Japanese spatial philosophy, where balance is not symmetry, but coexistence. The piece doesn’t dominate the space; it anchors it.

There is no central figure, no explicit narrative. Instead, it offers a quiet field of contemplation. A pause. A moment of stillness amid movement, mirroring the experience of dining itself: layered, sensory, and present.
